CD Projekt Red, the titular developer that brought us the smash hit Witcher 3 (yes, also Witcher 1 and 2), is bringing some of their previous generosity to Cyberpunk 2077. Witcher 3 fans were delighted when the developers released free content post-release: finishing animations, new game +, armor sets, etc. Most were expecting Cyberpunk 2077 to follow in Geralt’s footsteps anyway, but it is wonderful to receive confirmation.
This may come as welcoming news with the buggy mess of a launch to fans. Cyberpunk 2077 had humungous hype, numerous delays, and promises that still resulted in a quagmire of a release. Along with a global pandemic, economic hardships, and employment issues, gamers are not as accepting or easily swayed as they once were.
To put aloe on the burns of this messy launch, CD Projekt Red has confirmed in an official Cyberpunk 2077 blog post that visitors of Night City can be sure to expect free DLC at the start of 2021. Though, we are unsure exactly what the content will entail and specifically what date we can grab it.
I believe the good faith gestures and continued updates will turn Cyberpunk 2077 into the promised messiah it should have been; however, we should always hold developers and publishers to the standard of completion upon release.
