Resident Evil Village, or Resident Evil 8 has been released on May 7th, and be it marketing or organic draw, this entry is crushing it. Resident Evil Village is beating the Resident Evil series’ Steam and Twitch records already. We are talking numbers in the six-figures. That would be more enemies than I slaughtered in Resident Evil 6.
Resident Evil Village had over 101,000 players at its current peak via Steam data, within two days. This dominates the all-time peak for Resident Evil 2 Remake (~74,000), Resident Evil 3 Remake (~60,000), and Resident Evil 7 (~20,000…poor Ethan). It goes to show horror fans that a resurgence in a beloved franchise is very possible, and Resident Evil Village seems to be doing just that.
Resident Evil Village streamer data
In terms of Twitch data, PCGamesN reported viewership near 600,000. Now, this figure was shown to be a distribution, in that viewers were coming for the brutality of Resident Evil Village and not just a particular streamer or entertainer. So, if you are looking to spice up your stream numbers, consider Resident Evil Village.
Sex sells and Resident Evil Village made sure to include a TALL order in their marketing. Lady Dimitrescu was at the forefront of quite a bit of advertising and thirsty gamers were waiting to run towards her. To be fair, the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 were received quite well and that absolutely influenced the reception of RE8. Even Resident Evil 7 was considered exceptionally good with its unique first-person twist on the franchise. But, our tall lady lent a hand, we believe.
Regardless, Resident Evil Village is making itself known and we are thrilled that the Resident Evil name has become even stronger.
